Advanced Virtual Studio - Portal 2024 [DE]
The production was carried out in 2024/2025 as part of the Advanced Virtual Studio project Portal at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences.
The goal was interactions using markerless person tracking at the virtual studio.
The graphics were rendered live with Viz Artist 5 and Unreal 5. Captury's markerless person tracking delivers
skeleton data for resolving occlusion, which is handled by moving a video plane using the distance of the actor from the camera.
An own build glove has LED, which can be animated and remotely controlled using http. The glove has also a switch, which sends out OSC messages for triggering animations.
Most parts were rendered in real-time, but the video consists out of many different takes. The shaking of the subway was done in the post.
An egocentric camera perspective was created using a hand-held tracked camera, producing natural camera moves.
