Abstract: Technical realization of multi-user sales presentations with stereo video content in a virtual environment [DE]
Lars Kreienmeier, Technical realization of multi-user sales presentations with stereo video content in a virtual environment, Hochschule Düsseldorf, Bachelor thesis, 09.08.2023.
With the continuous advancement of technologies such as „Virtual Reality“ (VR) and
„Augmented Reality“, customer interest in engaging with these technologies is
growing. This increases the incentive to develop new sales opportunities in this
domain. A unique sales experience enhances customer engagement and loyalty.
Such an experience could be a multi-user sales presentation with stereoscopic
video content in a virtual environment.
This Bachelor’s thesis aims to evaluate the technical feasibility of this
experience by developing a prototype. The necessary VR application for customers
was created using the Unity development environment. An Application Programming
Interface was implemented to enable access to the seller’s database through the
VR application. A moderator is represented as a stereoscopic video, while
customers can interact and communicate using customized avatars in the
multi-user sales space. The theoretical implementation of streaming the
moderator into the virtual sales room via a live stream was explained.
The findings of this study demonstrate that the technical realization is
feasible, although further exploration is required.
