Kateryna Halatsiuk, WebAR – Development of an eLearning AR application for using a camera arm, Hochschule Düsseldorf, Bachelor thesis, 10.02.2023.
WebAR, or web-based augmented reality, is a new technology that allows users to
experience immersive virtual environments directly through their web browser.
This is different from app-based AR, which requires additional installation.
WebAR is beneficial because it saves users time and money. It is particularly
useful in fields such as education, social media, and business. Today, much of
the information people consume is presented through eLearning platforms and apps
on the internet. WebAR takes this one step further, creating a more engaging and
efficient learning experience in web. This thesis explores the current state of
web-based augmented reality technology and its potential use in education. An
education app for a camera arm was developed as part of this study to examine
the current state of the technology and determine the requirements for a
standalone AR application.
