Augmented Reality (AR) shows virtual objects in the real environment. It is used in many
fields, for example in the education field as support to simplify complicated or long instructions.
But does AR help to improve the success of learning? We developed an application where virtual
notes are placed on real objects. These notes will contain new vocabulary and new words for
learning Japanese. This will help the user to make a connection between the new word and
the object which then leads to the effect of memorizing the new vocabulary faster and easier.
Focusing on the language learning we found out if AR can help to increase the success of
learning Japanese Kanjis and how AR can improve language learning applications.
